Fathers Day

We celebrated Fathers Day a week late since we were just getting back from vacation last week. We went down to Washington to spend the afternoon.

Viv actually let Uncle Adam hold her this time...all smiles and no crying!

Aunt Teresa too!

Me and my Dad.

It rained all afternoon and Nathan got just what he wanted....a nap. Happy 1st Fathers Day Nathan! You are a natural!

Destin

We spent the last week on our first family vacation. We spent the week in Destin, Florida. I rented a condo from VRBO.com and we had a great time. I wasn't quite ready to brave flying with Vivian just yet...plus we would need a carseat and other baby paraphernalia so Mom and I road tripped it. It took about 16 hrs total and really wasn't too bad of a trip. Vivian did fairly well riding in the car. The second day in the car was more trying than the first...but who could blame her? One of us ended up having to sit in the back with her to provide a constant stream of toys to entertain her.

A selfie before heading out Thursday morning...

We stopped halfway in Memphis, TN to spend the night. My girl and her suitcase. We soon figured out that we only needed to bring about 1/2 of what we packed!

We narrowly missed severe weather in Arkansas and a major traffic jam on the interstate because of it. We picked up Dad and Nathan at the Pensacola airport. We stayed here in Destin....it was beautiful!!

The view from our balcony...

We were on the 8th floor...can you see us on our balcony (tiny blue dot?)? We loved sitting out here anytime day or night. The sound of the ocean was great and the ocean breeze was even better.

One of my fave pics...

Baby feet in the sand...

We did nothing all week but sit on the beach. There were lots of naps taken!

Vivian seemed to really enjoy the pool. She would kick those little legs like crazy in her float.

She was so good and would sit on the blanket and play with her toys and entertain herself.

She loved the bubbles in the kiddie pool.

She wasn't quite sure what to think of the waves and sand but warmed up to them by the end of the week.

We ate two meals out total during the week....two! It was great! Like any other resort community...the traffic was horrible, so it was nice to not have to go anywhere for anything.

For the most part we had fantastic weather. It was a bit breezy on the beach but that made the waves that much more fun! We had two mornings that were kinda cloudy and rainy but by the afternoon we had blue skies.

Nathan humored me as we took family photos on the beach our last night.

I'm hoping to make this an annual tradition!

7 months

7 months...it doesn't seem possible! Again, about a week before she was officially 7 months old we had our 6 month check up and vaccines. She weighed in at 15# 8 oz (25%) was 26.25 inches long (50%) and head circumference of 43.4 cm (65%). The Dr. actually said 'she's long and lean'!! Ha!! Nathan and I both laughed....cause that's probably the last time she will ever hear that phrase! Long and lean doesn't exactly run in either side of our families.

Sleep still escapes us as she is up 2-3 times a night to have her pacifier replaced. Her sleeping habits also got much worse after her vaccines....they always seem to throw her off a bit. She is the most distracted eater I have ever come across.....but I had virtually no baby experience before she came along....so what do I know? It's a chore to get 4 oz of formula down her after her solids. She eats at 8 am, noon, 4 pm, and 8 pm. She gets solids the first three meals and then just a bottle before bed. She is consistently going down around 8-9 pm. Nathan loves to fall asleep with her holding his hand. She does go down fairly smooth and then we move her up to the crib.

She is sitting up like a champ and is tolerating tummy time much better. She is rolling over more readily from front to back but still can't seem to figure out how to get from back to front. She rolls on her sides all the time and still prefers to sleep on her side but just can't make it all the way over. She reaches for everything these days and I can't seem to satisfy her curiosity. She loves anything new....when I give her a new object she immediately turns it over and over in her hands and begins to 'talk' to it. She will sit and examine something for 15-20 minutes. She entertains herself very well. However, she gets bored with her 'old' toys easily.

I would say she's still has quite a ways to go before we need to worry about crawling. And we've seen no signs of teeth yet either. We did start the '2nd' foods meaning she can now have combinations of foods...and Dr. Laura said we could start to add in proteins and things we eat as long as they are pureed. My homemade babyfood makin' skills are going to have to improve. I'll have to research some new recipes!

She is still such a happy baby and squeals in delight at attention. We just returned from a week in Destin, Florida...so more to come!
